Take Action – The Killing Has Been Relentless

Wolves will be taken off the Threatened Species List in Wyoming at the end of this month, unless the Obama administration stops this bad decision in its tracks.

The killing has been relentless.

Last year since Congress delisted wolves in Idaho and handed their lives over to State officials, more than 400 wolves have been killed.

Now the tragedy that swept over Idaho wolves is set to come to Wyoming at the end of this month – unless you and I stop it.

The future of wolves in the Northern Rockies is in your hands.

Tell the Obama White House: we’ve seen what happened in Idaho. Don’t allow Wyoming’s wolves to suffer the same fate – or worse.

The restoration of wolves has been hailed as one of the biggest successes of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) since it was passed in 1973. Unfortunately, last year marked the first time in history that Congress removed a species from the endangered species list, removing all Federal protection for wolves in Idaho, Montana and parts of other states. The consequences in Idaho were swift and bloody, and years of progress vanished along with hundreds of wolves.

Now the Federal Government is on the verge of eliminating protections for wolves in Wyoming, and handing the future of these majestic creatures over to another state that’s bent on killing as many wolves as the Obama Administration will allow.

Urge the Obama White House not to turn back the clock on almost 40 years of Federal wolf protection in Wyoming.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is expected to announce it will strike wolves from the Threatened Species List in Wyoming at the end of August, paving the way for an all-out open season on the wolves of Wyoming.

That means we have only a short window of time to act. If we fail, if Wyoming officials get their way, wolves will have no protections throughout most of the state. In these areas, no hunting license will be required: wolves will be killed on sight, for any reason or no reason at all.

Wolves’ lives are at stake. Help send 100,000 signatures to the White House starting today!

Over the next 3 weeks, we’re putting everything we’ve got into urging the Obama White House to step in and prevent the reckless killing of Wyoming’s wolves. It’s up to you and me to ensure that our children’s children will have the chance to cherish these noble creatures like we do today.

Thank you for speaking out for wildlife.

Sincerely,

Jamie Rappaport Clark
President
Defenders of Wildlife

P.S. Wolves are counting on you to stand between them and the people that would have them killed. Ask the Obama White House to save Wyoming’s wolves today, before it’s too late.
